Ebbsfleet’s sourced cider
The Ebbsfleet's sourced cider scheme brief emerged from the history of brewing in the area. It is a permanent venue for large performances based on simple architectural principles that respond to their context through light, material, and function. The scheme presents a reintroduction of cider-making within the site, creating an orchard that extends into the surrounding domestic gardens, reintroducing the inhabitants to the seasons of agricultural production - including festivals and the blossoming of the whole area. The project aims to create memorable experiences for a metropolitan and international audience.

‘‘Where London meets the Garden of England’’

The project presents a reintroduction of cider-making within the site, creating an orchard that extends into the surrounding domestic gardens. It aims to reintroduce the inhabitants to the seasons of agricultural production, including festivals and the blossoming of the entire area. The core of the project involves the planting of a seed orchard, and establishing a network of orchards across Kent. The project acts as a centre for reviving traditional aspects of cider production and craft, with a sensitivity to the cycles and processes of the environment.
